I'm considering offering a large model of the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

This kit would be a replica of the largest filming miniature which had no raised plating or panel lines. Some translucent parts will be included such as the engines and parts of the hull, but it may not be possible to cast the saucer halves in translucent resin due to technical limitations.

The most likely scale for this project will be 1/1000 as this is popular scale for Trek starship subjects. Also, since a 1/1000 scale Enterprise D would be about 25" inches long, this model would be nearly the same size as the 2-foot model used in visual effects shots for the show..this is appealing as many modelers like to create studio-scale replicas of effects models. Lastly, a model of this scale would be reasonably priced, both to produce and sell, relative to other handmade resin kits.

The purpose of this survey is to determine the interest level for this project and settle on a scale for the model. While 1/1000 is the most likely scale, I'm open to suggestion to producing a larger model.
